Kempty Fall

Kempty Falls in Mussoorie is among the best places to visit in Mussoorie because of its milky streams of water flowing between the towering mountains. It is without a doubt the most well-known of the numerous tourist places in Mussoorie. Visitors can enjoy the magnificent views of the hill station and the surrounding natural splendors from its 1,364-meter elevation. 

British officer John McKinnon coined the name Kempty for this place as British officials often used to have tea parties at this waterfall. As a result, it was given the names “camp” and “tea,” resulting in (Kempty).

Eco-park, Dhanaulti

Dhanaulti is among the most beautiful towns in Uttarakhand, located around 50 km outside of Mussoorie. This place is famous for its panoramic views of the lofty Himalayas, and the best part about the Mussoorie to Dhanaulti drive is the panoramic view of the Garhwal Himalayas. Reach here between September and June to treat your eyes with some adorable scenes of nature.

The Eco-Park in Dhanaulti is popular among visitors and attracts crowds from across the country. The tranquil and serene atmosphere of Dhanaulti makes it one of the best attractions to visit near Mussoorie.

Jharipani Falls

Jharipani Falls is among the fantastic places to visit near Mussoorie for nature lovers. It is located just 7 kilometers from Mussoorie, and the waterfall looks gorgeous from the top of the trek. Hence, this waterfall in Mussoorie is quite popular among trekkers.

Mall Road

Window shopping at Mall Road is my personal favorite thing to do in Mussoorie. Here you will get a fair chance to check your bargaining skills while purchasing some souvenirs for friends, family, and relatives. 

The shops along Mall Road range from those selling well-known brands to those selling wares made by independent craftspeople. There are numerous shops selling a variety of goods, including food, snacks, clothing, presents, and even more.

Best time to visit: Visit this place in the evening as the road is lit up with vivid lights and looks beautiful.

6. Lal Tibba scenic point

Lal Tibba is a place to go sightseeing in Mussoorie. It is 7464 feet above sea level. From this spot, tourists can look through a telescope and see the snow-covered Himalayas, which is a beautiful sight. They can even see glimpses of popular Himalayan peaks, like the Kedarnath and Badrinath mountain peaks. 

On the top, there is a suicide point, several handicraft shops from where you can buy souvenirs, and a few coffee shops where you can have your morning coffee with a breathtaking view of the mountains. Lal Tibba Mussoorie is a beautiful spot for nature lovers, as they can watch the sun rise or set clearly from here.

Company Garden

The very popular Company Garden (“Company Bagh”) or “Municipal Garden” in Mussoorie is the favorite spot among locals for small gatherings or picnics. The local government takes care of gardens that are home to many different kinds of plants. 

There is a beautiful fountain, slides for kids, a wax museum, a haunted house, a telescope viewing area, and a kid’s play zone inside the garden. Apart from this, locals often came to this garden to take leisurely strolls in the evening and praise nature.

Jwala Devi Temple

If you had enough adventure on your Mussoorie trip, then it’s time to visit a temple and seek some blessing. Jwala Devi Temple in Mussoorie is the oldest known temple among the locals. This temple is for the goddess Durga. It is on top of Benog Hill, 2104 meters above sea level, and is surrounded by lots of green plants.

One must walk at least 2 kilometers uphill to reach this temple. This spot is great for taking pictures of the beauty of the hills because it is surrounded by green plants and pretty streams.

9. Get a cable car to reach Gun Hill

Gun Hill

The cable car ride is another fantastic thing to do in Mussoorie that is only available from Mall Road to Gun Hill. With an elevation of 2,024 meters (6,640 feet), Gun Hill is the second-highest point in Mussoorie. A 10-minute cable car ride from the Jhula Ghar on Mall Road will take you to the popular Gun Hill. While you are in the cable car, don’t forget to capture the bird’s-eye view of Mussoorie. 

From the top of the hill, people can see a breathtaking view of the sunset in the evening and a unique view of the mountains in Doon Valley. Unquestionably, Gun Hill is among the best places to see in Mussoorie.

George Everest’s House, Park House

George Everest House is one of the most visited tourist places in Mussoorie. More than a lakh tourists visit this old museum every year; it was once a residential place for Sir George Everest who was a well-known Welsh surveyor and geographer 

Sir George was so captivated by Mussoorie’s natural beauty that he spent about 11 years in Mussoorie and owns a house there. His home was built in 1832 and is now a popular historic landmark in Mussoorie. Located in Park Estate, visitors can take in stunning views of the Aglar River valley and the Himalayas to the north, as well as the Doon Valley to the south.

Benog Wildlife Sanctuary is a part of the well-known Rajaji National Park that is home to some uncommon species of flora and fauna. You will get to see Himalayan goat, deer, panthers, leopards, bears, and many unseen varieties of flora in this wildlife sanctuary. 

Apart from flora, this sanctuary is a haven for bird lovers, as both alien and native birds like the red-billed blue magpie, mountain quail, and White Water redstart can be seen here.

Drive through the Camel’s Back Road

It is a must to drive through Camel’s Back Road when you are in Mussoorie. The hairpin turns on the road will definitely add an unforgettable experience to your Mussoorie trip without a second thought.

The name of this road comes from the shape of the camel-shaped rock formation at the end of the road. This road is about 3 km long, has beautiful views of the Doon Valley, and is lined with small restaurants that serve delicious appetizers.
