The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum - Colorado in USA is the first museum to be dedicated to the Olympic and Paralympic movements in North America. Situated in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the museum pays tribute to the athletes, coaches, and citizens who have contributed to the advancement of the Olympic and Paralympic movements in the United States. The concept for the museum dates back to 2003 when the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) developed a vision for an expanded mission that would help share the inspirational messages of the Olympic and Paralympic movements with a broader audience. In 2008, USOC announced an agreement with the city of Colorado Springs to develop a dynamic hub for the Olympic and Paralympic movements in the United States. By 2011, the USOC had established the USOC Foundation and partnered with the City of Colorado Springs to issue a Request for Proposal to develop museum programming and designs. With the development and completion of the museum, the foundation of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum - Colorado was laid. The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum - Colorado held its formal grand opening to the public on July 30th, 2020. The museum opened its doors in the summer of 2021, and features interactive and educational exhibits that celebrate the many stories of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams and athletes. Among the many highlights is the Hall of Honor, which honors medalists and those individuals who have aided in the development of the Olympic and Paralympic movements.
