The Pereslavl-Zalessky Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve was established by the Governor of Yaroslavl Region in 1982 and is located in the Russian city of Pereslavl-Zalessky. The Museum-Reserve has a long history stemming back to the 11th century when the city was founded. Situated along the banks of the Volga River, it was an important trading post along the Volga trade route. The city and it’s citadel, known as the Kremlin, have been home to a variety of different rulers and empires over the centuries, including the Mongols, the Yaroslavl Princes, the Grand Dukes of Moscow, and the Tsars. The Museum-Reserve was established to preserve and display the rich and varied cultural and historical heritage of the city.
