History:

The history of the ONE Church in Zimbabwe dates back to the mission of English evangelist, the Rev. Francis Younghusband, who arrived in the country in 1817. He founded the first Christian mission and church at Inyati (now Butler's Ford), in the Eastern Transvaal, today's Zimbabwe. During the next decades, other Protestant missions followed suit and by 1891, there were about 28 different mission stations in the country. In 1936, the various mission denominations and churches joined forces to become the Union of African Churches (United Church) in Zimbabwe. The original members of the Union were the Methodist, Presbyterian, Seventh-day Adventist and Anglican Churches. In 1957, the Union was restructured and called the Zimbabwe Council of Churches. This council worked as a unified Christian body for nearly 40 years, until the formation of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe (1996). The foundation of the ONE Church in Zimbabwe was then planned in 1998. The first service of the new church was held on 19th August 2001 and it has since grown and developed as a vibrant faith-based organization, serving the people of Zimbabwe and the countries of Southern Africa.
