The United Church of Zambia is a denomination of the Christian faith created in 1969 through the union of four mission churches. The United Church is the largest Protestant denomination in Zambia, representing approximately 45 percent of the Christian population. The church operates 19 dioceses in Zambia, which are organized and administered by: the Church Council, comprising the Synod Moderators and National Officers, and the synod presbyteries. History:

The United Church of Zambia has its roots in the formation of mission churches by Scottish and English missionaries in late 19th century Zambia. The original mission churches included: the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP), the Johannesburg Mission Church (JMC), the London Missionary Society (LMS), and the United Free Church Of Scotland (UFSC). In 1950, the four mission churches united to form the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian-Johannesburg Mission Church. The two Anglican provincial churches, the Church of England in Zambia (Anglican Diocese of Lusaka) and the Church of the Province of Central Africa (Anglican Diocese of Northern Zambia), joined in 1963 to form the United Church of Zambia. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Zambia.
