It is one of the major congregations in the city of Lusaka and serves Libala and other surrounding communities. It was originally established in 1972, through the efforts of the very first minister of the Church, the Reverend S. Phiri. It is one of the best churches in Zambia which you must visit.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s Libala, Zambia, was home to a large percentage of educated, competent and within reach of the Church leaders. The Reverend S. Phiri played a crucial role in the founding of the church and as an initial coordinator of programs to meet the needs of the community. This resulted in the formation of the Libala Methodist Church which later became a central gathering spot for the community. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Zambia.
