Worship Method:

Quan Thanh Temple, located in central Hanoi, is a Taoist temple dedicated to Tran Vo Bac De, the god who protects Hanoi. The temple was first built in the eleventh century and has since undergone multiple renovations and repairs due to war damages and weathering. Although Quan Thanh Temple is a Taoist temple, many Buddhists come to worship and observe the ceremonies and rituals. Worshipers typically enter the temple through the main entrance, which is guarded by two large dragons. After bowing to the gods, they seek direction on where to go and what offerings to make according to the Taoist precepts. After making their offerings, they then perform rituals of respect and reverence for the gods by offering incense, fruits, and flowers. Afterward, worshippers kneel and pray, recite mantras, and sing hymns to the gods while a Taoist priest reads scriptures. Finally, they will light joss sticks and paper money, which will be burned as offerings to honor the gods. At the end of the ceremony, worshippers may make a wish or ask the gods for assistance before finally leaving the temple. Through these rituals and prayers, the worshippers hope to receive the blessing and protection of the gods. This most visited temple in Vietnam
