History:

The first version of Our Lady of the Rosary was built in Saigon in 1860. This original wooden structure was destroyed by floods in 1931. The current version of the church was soon built in its place, in 1935. In 1941, the Vatican appointed its first bishop in Vietnam, Bishop Gabriel Marie Garrone, and the church was renovated to hold the new bishop's seat. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Vietnam.
