History:

An Lac Church was founded in 1901 as an orphanage and school for Vietnamese, Chinese, and French children. In 1912, the church was given to the Church of the Holy Family (which later became the Archdiocese of Saigon, then Ho Chi Minh City). The current church was opened on December 8th, 1968, with Mass beginning the following day. The church was reconstructed in the 1980s and again in the 1990s. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Vietnam.
