The Mahakaal Temple is one of the most revered and important temples in Ujjain. The worship method at the temple follows a strict religious protocol. The temple is open to everyone but certain rules and regulations must be followed in order to ensure the sanctity of the temple is maintained. There is an elaborate mantrapooja, puja and other rituals that are performed in the temple. On entering the temple, devotees are to first perform the puja followed by an offering of flowers and coconuts. A flag hoisting and oficial worship ceremony are conducted every morning.
