The Winter Quarters Nebraska Temple is the seventh operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was dedicated November 19, 2001, by LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley. The temple was built on land just south of the Pioneer Trail Monument and is named for Winter Quarters, the temporary city that the Mormon settlers constructed in Omaha in 1846-1848 before moving West to Salt Lake City.
