Worship Method:
Uxmal is one of the most important archaeological sites of Yucatán located in the ceremonial and religious centre of the pre-Hispanic Maya world. The site’s main attractions are the Pyramid of the Magician, the Governor's Palace, and a number of other structures. The worship method practiced in Uxmal focused mainly on the cult of Kinich Ahau - the Sun God - and rituals for rain and fertility. The rituals included a series of ceremonies, processions, and sacrifices. During the ceremonies, offerings were made to deities from a ritual bundle placed on a tall azinac (a square of reeds and twigs) representing the cosmic tree and axis of the world. Offerings would involve objects such as flowers, shells, and incense, as well as foodstuffs and human sacrifices. Ritual cleansing was also important and this was done by priests and participants at the start and end of ceremonies. Music accompanied by drums and flutes also formed part of the rituals.
