Konya Mevlana Museum is a museum in Konya, Turkey, dedicated to the life and work of the 13th-century Sufi poet and philosopher Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi. Originally built in 1921 by a local historian, Sheik Mustafa Suphi, the museum has, since then, undergone a series of renovations and expansions, and was opened to the public again in 2007. Located on the site of the Mevlana Mausoleum and the adjoining former Seljuk Sultanate palace, the museum features a range of artifacts related to the life and teachings of Mevlana, including manuscripts, hand-written documents, and correspondences belonging to Mevlana, along with a vast collection of artifacts related to his followers, the Whirling Dervishes, as well as multiple other Islamic artifacts. The museum also houses a two-volume book known as the ‘Konya Divan’, containing the works of some 800 Sultan and Dervish poets from the region, and a collection of over 2,000 artifacts among which miniatures, calligraphy, ceramics, woodworking, metalwork, and weapons. The museum is now a major pilgrimage site for Mevlana’s followers and others of the Sufi faith.
