Haslund Church was established in 1521 by King Christian III, who was a Lutheran. He set up the church to promote Lutheranism throughout Denmark and the rest of Europe. The original building was rebuilt in 1620, after it had been destroyed during the Copenhagen fire of 1619. The church was then renovated in 1750, and a bell tower was added.
