Future Rome Italy Temple is the first temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) in Italy. Construction of the temple began on November 15, 2018, with the groundbreaking ceremony presided over by President M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. History:
The city of Rome has had a long history of missionary work, beginning with the first missionaries sent to the area by Brigham Young in 1849. The first Latter-day Saint convert in the city was baptized in 1890, and by 2002 the first stake in Italy had been established in the city.
