Churches Together in England is an ecumenical organization governed by Christian conversation between different denominations and traditions. It was formed in 1992 following an agreement known as the Leuenberg Concord of 1974 that affirmed the relationships of the member churches of the World Council of Churches. It was the first organization on a national basis to include the Anglican, Catholic, Free, Methodist and Orthodox bodies. The mission of Churches Together in England is to promote visible unity between the participating churches and their services to the world. Its activities are focused around three main areas of mission and ministry: common worship, mutual recognition, and common advocacy.
