Bath Abbey is a parish church of the Church of England located in the city of Bath, UK. It was built in the 16th century and became a cathedral in 1539. History:

The current building was built on the site of earlier churches, including a Norman-era chapel and a 12th-century monastery. The 7th Earl of Bath and local cleric John of Tours initiated the building of the current church, designed by renowned abbot Robert of Abingdon. It was completed in the mid-15th century. The abbey was dissolved in 1539, when Henry VIII ordered the destruction and dismantling of the monasteries. The abbey was subsequently used as a Cathedral and was declared a parish church in 1608.
