St. Joseph's Church of Djerba In Tunisia is a Catholic basilica located in Houmt Souk, Djerba, Tunisia. Built in 1874 and renovated in 1954, it is a well-known tourist destination and a landmark of Christian heritage. Its history can be traced back to 15th century, when it was part of the Venetian mission to Tunisia. It is believed that the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph and Child Jesus appeared here in 1480. The Basilica's architecture is a combination of Arabic, Berber and Colonial French styles with a Latin inscription on the facade's carved columns. The interior features a marble altar, magnificent Islamic mosaics, an apse, and several paintings and sculptures. Every year, more than 30,000 pilgrims from around the world make their way to the basilica to attend the feast of St. Joseph on March 19th. Services include Sunday Mass, Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals, Confessions and other Catholic ceremonies.
