The first chapel in Totsigan was built in 1871 by the Missionaries of Africa and included in the EEPT parish's jurisdiction. Since then, the EEPT parish has remained a strong force in the spiritual life of the Totsigan community. The EEPT parish has provided religious guidance, education and health care to the people of Totsigan, in addition to maintaining a local library, community outreach program, and an orphanage.
