The worship method at Vaitheeswaran Temple is based on the Agama Shastra, a temple scriptural canon outlining the various rituals and offerings to be made to the deity. The main temple festivals include Karthikai Deepam, Aadi Pooram, Skanda Shashti and Float Festival. On the day of Karthikai Deepam, the temple becomes alive with the traditional performance of the Kambaramayanam (Ramayana) by the acharyas and numerous devotees taking part. Special poojas, abishekams and archana are offered on Aadi Pooram and skanda shashti to mark the special occasion. The common forms of worship at this temple include ayushya homa, abhishekam for Lord Shiva, performing archana, making coconut and flower offerings and reciting mantras. Devotees can also take part in the Maha Deepaaradhana, where 108 deepams are illuminated in the sanctum sanctorum and shlokas are chanted. A unique offering made at this temple is Vaitheeswaran Koil Kolam, where a decorative Kolam is drawn with rice flour on a Saturday night and the offerings are kept on it.
