The worship method used in Vayalur Murugan Temple is based on the ancient rituals and prayers that have been practiced here for centuries. The devotees usually visit the temple early in the morning to offer their prayers and perform various rituals. During special occasions, a nine-day event is celebrated where Murugan’s flag is hoisted. On this day, devotees sing devotional songs and light camphor lamps as a token of their reverence. On the ninth day, special feasts are held and milk is anointed to the deity. On new moon and full moon days, special pujas are conducted and devotees offer fruits, coconut, sugar, vegetative products, and other devotional items as a sign of respect.
