History:
Methodism was introduced to Sri Lanka by missionary John de Silva in 1830 and the Maradana Methodist Church was established in the same year. It moved to its present location in 1897. In 1916, a brass plaque was placed on the church, to commemorate 100 years of Methodism in Sri Lanka. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Srilanka.
