Worship Method:
The worship method of Gnanavairavar Temple, Eachchamoddai, Jaffna in Sri Lanka follows the traditional Tamil Hindu practices. Worshipers start off their visit by offering obeisance to Lord Ganesha, followed by lighting of lamps and sprinkling of holy water and offering of flowers. They then offer prayers to Lord Ganesha and recite mantras in praise of him. After that, the presiding priest will start reading from the scriptures and the devotional songs will be sung accompanied by the musical instruments. This is followed by offerings of flowers, fruits, and other holy material to the deity. Prayers will be offered and then devotees will take a pradakshina (circumambulation) around the image of the Lord. Lastly, the priest will perform aarti or arati (a ritual of waving lights before the image of the Lord). As part of the conclusion of this worship session, the devotees will utter the Prayer dedicated to Lord Ganesha.
