St. Nicholas Church - Bopitiya In Srilanka is a historic church located in the Bopitiya village, Kurunegala district of Sri Lanka. Built in the mid 15th century, the church was entrusted to the Capuchin Friars by King Vimaladitya of Kandy. During its long history, this place of Christian worship has seen many generations of worshippers, each hour passed during prayer in this church having its own rich and mysterious story. It is one of the best churches in Srilanka which you must visit.

 The Church was built around 1450 AD by King Vimaladitya and is dedicated to Saint Nicholas. It is believed to be the first Roman Catholic Church in the region. The church became a focal point in the local area, with a Roman Catholic nunnery built beside it. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Srilanka.

The Church is famous for its Gothic style architecture and unique wall paintings. The ceiling of the Church is decorated with intricate wood carvings. The ancient graveyard outside the Church is a burial place for many generations of Catholics.

The Church hosts a variety of services including weekly Mass, Rite of Baptism, Rite of Marriage, Marriage Blessing and devotional prayer services. Morning prayer sessions are held each day, with three prayers said in the morning, three prayers said at noon and three prayers said in the evening.
