History:

The practice of worship in Sri Thirowpathai Amman Kovil, Kudiyiruppu, Mundel includes offerings of flowers, coconut, fruits, betel leaves and nuts, incense sticks and lighting of camphor on the idols of the goddess Sri Thirowpathai Amman. Devotees then perform abishekam (holy bath) on the idol, and follow this by presenting offerings of silk, jewelry or gold coins. Special pujas are held on Fridays and other auspicious occasions, and devotees take part in kalasam rituals and homams. How to reach:

The easiest way to reach Sri Thirowpathai Amman Kovil is by road. From Colombo, take the A14 and then take the A3 towards Anuradhapura. After passing the towns of Minneriya and Polonnaruwa, take the exit towards Kudiyiruppu. The temple is situated around 5 km from the highway.
