Christ Church is a Christian church located in Kollupitiya, Colombo, Sri Lanka. The church is part of the Church of Ceylon (Anglican Communion). It was founded in 1861 by Rev. Mark Carpenter, an Anglican missionary. The church was originally founded to serve the needs of the local British community, but the church today is open to everyone, regardless of cultural or religious background. History:

 Christ Church was originally opened in 1861 by Rev. Mark Carpenter. The first service was conducted in the drawing room of "Stone House”, the centrally located residence owned by Mr. William Christopher Cole. The congregation started to grow quickly and the church needed more space. In 1868, with the help of contributions from local benefactors, the construction of the new church was started, but it was only completed in 1872. The first service in the new church building was held on December 14th 1872. Christ Church This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Srilanka.
