Singapore Botanic Gardens
Singapore Botanic Gardens, established in 1859, is a 164-year-old tropical garden in Singapore. It was founded by the Agri-Horticultural Society and later transferred to the government. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014, making it the first and only tropical botanic garden on the list.
The gardens are 82 hectares in size and feature a diverse collection of plants, including many rare and endangered species. The National Orchid Garden, with over 1,200 orchid species and 2,000 hybrids, is one of its most popular attractions.
The gardens are also home to several themed gardens, such as the Evolution Garden, Healing Garden, and Jacob Ballas Children's Garden, which provide visitors with unique experiences and educational opportunities. The Symphony Lake, which hosts regular performances by local and international musicians, and Swan Lake, which is home to a variety of water birds, are two other highlights of the gardens.
The Singapore Botanic Gardens is open daily from 5 am to midnight, and admission is free, although there is a fee to enter the National Orchid Garden. It is a popular place for both locals and tourists to go, and it is a quiet place to get away from the busy city life.
