Leith Free Church In Scotland: History,Facts, & Services
History:
Leith Free Church was founded in 1798 and originally served as the parish church of Leith until the Church of Scotland disjoined itself from the Leith community in 1836. The cause of the disjunction was due to the Leith community’s continued participation in the Highland Games. Since its foundation, Leith Free Church has gone through several transformations. In 1886, the church’s exterior was renovated with a new tower to the west, neo-Gothic doors and windows, and a tiled roof. The 1960’s saw further renovations, when the church was fully restored and modernized - while still preserving its historic character. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Scotland.

Leith Free Church services include weekly Sunday morning and evening services, two seasonal communion services, private prayer services, weekly bible study, and a monthly meal additional activities.
