History:
The church was founded in 1952 by Archbishop Edward Joseph McCarthy, who wanted to honour St. Joseph, the husband of the Virgin Mary and foster post-World War II Christian unity in the Gros Islet area. The Church was officially opened with a Mass on November 15, 1952. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Saint Lucia.

The Church is a white building with two large towers and a bell tower, overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The whole building is made of concrete and is designed in a “Caribbean wooden style”. There are two main alters inside the Church. The Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is located at the front, and the Shrine of St. Joseph is located on the right side of the Church.

The Church hosts a variety of services and events including marriage ceremonies, baptisms, funerals, and an annual St. Joseph’s Fair, where thousands of local people gather to celebrate the feast day of St. Joseph.This beautiful church in Saint Lucia has made a lot of significance in the past.
