Obelisk in Victory Park, Moscow is a monument located inside the Victory Park complex in Moscow, Russia. It was built in 1985 as a tribute to the heroes and victims of World War II. The Obelisk is 65m tall and it stands on a granite and marble base. Its four sides are faced with gold-plated stainless steel sheets, featuring the names of the soldiers, civilians, and allies who perished or fought in the war. Each side of the Obelisk is adorned with panels featuring reliefs depicting scenes of war with historical characters, such as Joseph Stalin, seated on a throne in the south-east. The Obelisk is illuminated at night and a powerful light beam is projected from its apex, symbolizing the eternal memory of the victims and heroes of the war. The memorial is surrounded by a large garden, featuring a pond and several statues commemorating different aspects of the conflict. Visitors can also active devices at a memorial built in honor of fallen Soviet soldiers and explore interactive display boards relating the history of the war.
