Luxor Museum is a museum located in Luxor, Egypt, that houses a large collection of artifacts from the ancient Egyptian city of Thebes. It opened in 1975 and is one of the largest museums in Egypt. The museum contains a variety of ancient artifacts from the 4,000 year-old city, including statues, frescoes, and jewelry from the New Kingdom period, which dates from 1550–1070 BC. Additionally, there are also objects from the Old Kingdom through to the Roman period. The main section of the museum focuses on Egyptian archaeology and the artefacts are arranged chronologically in 13 halls. Other galleries include a collection of coins and a selection of mummies.
