History:

The site is thought to have been built by the emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century A.D. Originally owned by the De Leone family, the villa was originally built as a summer residence and an escape from the hustle and bustle of Rome. After the fall of Rome, it was neglected and abandoned, only to be rediscovered in 1810 by Giuseppe Ottaviano Fabrianti. The villa was heavily restored and converted into a luxury hotel in 1907.
