• Cisternoni Romani was built by Emperor Trajan in the 1st century AD. • The structure is over 2 miles (3.2 km) long, and is made up of 5 aqueducts. • The impressive arcades, which form the structure's recognizable shape, each measure 10 feet (3 m) high and 6 feet (2 m) thick. • The aqueduct was used to feed public fountains and bathhouses in the city. • The structure was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019. History:
The aqueduct was built by Emperor Trajan who commissioned the architects Apollodorus, Gaius Balbus, and Appius Claudius to construct it.
