Discover - Biblioteca Lancisiana della A.S.L. Roma "E" - Fact, History and Travel Information
Biblioteca Lancisiana della A.S.L. Roma "E" is a historical library in the city of Rome. It was officially established in 1923 and was the first library in Rome to specialize in medical and scientific books. The library consists of over 7,500 medical and scientific books and other related materials dating back to the 15th century and speaks volumes of the dedication of the A.S.L. Roma to promote medical studies. The library was unfortunately destroyed during WWII but was miraculously resurrected in 1956 as a fitting tribute to the late Carlo Lancisi (1733-1790), a world-renowned Italian anatomist and physician. The library's namesake holds a special place in Italian history for his vast anatomical findings. Today, the library serves as a popular tourist destination offering public access to its vast repository of books. The library is also home to a variety of historical artifacts, journals, and prints related to medicine and science.
