Church of St Mary Magdalene is an Anglican church located in Paddington, London, England. The church has a long history dating back to the 16th century and is one of the oldest churches in the city. Through its long history, the church has seen renovations and expansions which have led to its current form. History The first record of a chapel dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene on the site of the current Church of St. Mary Magdalene is from 1512. However, the wooden structure of that church did not survive and was replaced by a stone church in the late 16th century. The current structure of the church dates back to the 19th century, when it underwent several renovations and expansions, including the addition of a spire and tower. Twenty-first century renovations were also carried out, resulting in its current state. Facts • The Church of St Mary Magdalene was founded in 1512. • The current building was renovated in the 19th and 21st centuries. • The building is listed on the National Heritage List for England. • Its bell tower contains a peal of fourteen bells. Services The church of St Mary Magdalene offers a range of services ranging from traditional Anglican services to contemporary worship services. Sunday Services are held each week and the church offers many special services such as weddings and funerals. The church also hosts other events such as lectures, bible studies, musical recitals and craft workshops.
