Sucevita Monastery is an Orthodox monastery in northeast Romania, located in the region of Bukovina, at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains. It was built by the Movilești Princes in 1585. The monastic complex is one of the most impressive monasteries in Romania, having two churches built in the Moldavian style of the 16th century by local artisans. The exterior of the monastery is painted with Byzantine frescoes depicting religious scenes and biblical stories. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.
