is a Serbian Orthodox Church located in the Romanian city of Sinaia. Built between 1938 and 1941, the church is dedicated to the decapitation of St. John the Baptist and commemorates the anniversary of his death. 1. St. John the Baptist Church in Romania was the site of one of Romania's most grisly murders in 2007. 2. The victim of the murder was a 24-year-old pilgrim named Costel Chendi, who was visiting the church from the Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi. 3. Chendi was attacked and beheaded with an axe by Krzystof Kudelka, a 30-year-old Polish immigrant and former member of the Catholic church who was living in Romania. 4. Kudelka also wounded another pilgrim, Constantin Colbea, before being stopped by church security guards and arrested by police. 5. Kudelka was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison without chance of parole. 6. The church was closed following the murder and not re-opened until 2011, after extensive renovations.
