All Saints Church, Warsaw In Poland: History,Facts, & Services
History:
is as follows: All Saints Church, Warsaw was built in 1720 in the Saxon district of Belarusian culture, locally known as the Saxony Church. It was a brick Gothic building with three naves, a tower, and three chapels. It was erected as a place of worship for the Protestants living in the area. In 1840, during the time of Tsar Nicholas I's rule, the church was dilapidated and had to be reconstructed. The architect Franciszek Wyszyński adopted the old Gothic style and rebuilt the church, by adding two towers and installing a new facade. Inside, the original stone slabs were replaced with painted ones, creating a much brighter interior. The church was badly damaged during World War II and all that remains of the original structure are the arcades and the main door. Today, All Saints Church is an Orthodox church and a parish centre. It is one of the most important places of worship in Warsaw and considered a landmark in the city. It is one of the best churches in Poland which you must visit.
