Overview:

Raqchi is an ancient archaeological site, located in the Province of Canchis in the Cusco Region of Peru. It is situated at an altitude of 3050 meters above sea-level, and was part of the Inca Empire. The settlement at Raqchi dates back to the Late Horizon period (1000-1450). Constructed on a flat plateau, Raqchi consists of an impressive terraced platform with an associated temple complex. The main feature of Raqchi is the vast temple known as El Templo de Viracocha, dedicated to the supreme earthly Inca deity and the creator of the world. This archeological site also features many smaller stone temples, tombs, mounds, and numerous other ancient features.
