Tello who sought to preserve and promote Peru’s ancient cultures. The museum is located in Peru’s National Museum, in downtown Lima. Its collection is made up of thousands of objects of gold and silver, from different ancient pre-Hispanic cultures, with the most important being the Inca, Moche, Chimu, Huari, Lambayeque, and Chavin. In 2012, the Museum of Gold underwent a major renovation and expansion project, with several million dollars provided by Banco de Credito.
