Brief History:
is a historic mosque that dates back to the 16th century, when it was first established by Sultan bin Saud bin Mohammad. It has undergone several renovations over the years, the most recent of which took place in 2010. The mosque is located in the governorate of Dhofar and is surrounded by a large garden which has been known to be a favorite hangout for locals. The mosque is regularly visited by locals and tourists alike, who come to admire its iconic white facade and its traditional Omani architectural style. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.
Architecture:
Al Qabil West South East Mosque in Oman is designed in the traditional style of Islamic architecture with elements of contemporary design, blending traditional and modern elements of style. The mosque consists of four minarets, each standing 60 metres in height. The main prayer hall is rectangular in shape and has a huge domed qibla wall with four semi-circular mihrabs, indicating the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca. The interiors feature carved and painted umdaq, latticework, and a large chandelier suspended from the ceiling. The prayer hall is also equipped with high-tech sound systems, air conditioning, and lighting systems. The ground floor is floored with marble, while the walls are decorated with Khatam and stucco work in floral patterns. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
