Nrusinghanath Temple in Bargarh, Odisha follows the Shaivic tradition of temple worship. The devotees are expected to show respect to the local deity, Nrusimha and to the goddess Parvathi, who is the consort of Nrusimha. Devotees must perform puja (ritual offering) to the Lord with ingredients like tumeric, flowers, incense, water, etc. and perform abhisheka (bathing of the deity) with water mixed with sandalwood and camphor. Aarti (ritual of offering of light) is then performed by the priests. Devotees should also perform parikrama (circumambulation) around the temple and offer pujas at the different shrines. Offertories can include fruits, milk or even wedding sweets. Other customs include lighting of agarbathi (incense sticks) and waving the camphor diya (eternal flame) around their head.
