St Peter Catholic Chaplaincy FPN is a chaplaincy service established in Oxford, United Kingdom in 1937 to provide religious guidance and counselling to Roman Catholic students and staff at Oxford University. The chaplaincy is supported by the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales, the Anglican Bishop of Oxford, and charities. History St Peter's was initially founded by Jesuit Father Richard Yung, who felt strongly that a chaplaincy should be available to Roman Catholics at Oxford’s many colleges. The first purpose-built center was opened in 1937, and the chaplaincy has been active ever since. In 1954, it became a permanent structure, and in the 1950s, Jesuits from the nearby Oxford Oratory contributed support and resources. Further support was provided by Peter Canisius House and the English Province of the Society of Jesus. Facts St Peter's is the longest running Catholic chaplaincy at Oxford and is dedicated to providing pastoral care and spiritual guidance to the Catholic members of Oxford. It also has dedicated sections for student and staff groups within the university. The chaplaincy is open every day from 8.30am to 8pm and offers a range of activities and liturgies throughout the week, including Masses and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. It is the only Catholic chaplaincy in the UK to have a 24/7 on-call priest.
