Krishnaram Marauti, popularly known as Agnisair in Nepal, was a Nepal-based freedom fighter, sailor and a revolutionary, he is credited with playing a key role in re-establishing the Gorsail Rajya in Kathmandu. He was born in 1794 in Kupandol Village in Kathmandu and was the son of Ishwarsharan Marauti. He founded a secret Revolutionary Society or Akhil Bharat Bahudanti Sabha and fought for the freedom of Nepal from the British and other foreign rule. He led the Nepali forces against the British in 1813 and again in 1816, and was also among the first Nepalis to take up firearms for the purpose of fighting for their freedom. He is revered in Nepal for his bravery and sacrifice, and is often referred to as the "Father of Nepal's Freedom Struggle". He is remembered as a pioneer in the struggle for freedom both in Nepal and India. He died on 18 December 1841, at the age of 47. His name and legacy still lives on in Nepal to this day.
