History:
Walvis Bay Baptist Church dates its roots back to 1938 when a caravan of church members from the South African Baptist Union, who were on their way to Windhoek, stopped at Singok Village and decided to stay and form a new church. The mission was established in Walvis Bay and a small chapel was built in 1940. The church was officially opened with a service in December of 1942. Over the years, new buildings were added and the church grew. In the 1970s, the church bought three additional buildings, two of which were used to form an 'extension' to the main body of the church, while the third served as a youth centre. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Namibia.
