The worship method of Gurudwara Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji at Nawanshahr in Punjab is based on Sikhism. Worship in Gurudwara usually begins with the singing of Asa di Vaar or Japji Sahib followed by the singing of hymns from the SGGS. After this, the Guru Granth Sahib is opened to a randomly selected passage, which is then read aloud in the presence of the Sangat. Prayers are then offered to the Guru Granth Sahib and the Sangat repeats a prayer, known as Ardaas, which concludes with the singing of a shabd from the SGGS, accompanied by the harmonium. After this, Karah Prasad, made from equal parts of flour, sugar, and ghee, is distributed to the Sangat.
