The traditional worship method of the Jakhu Temple in Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh is conducted according to the age-old practices of Hinduism. The ritual starts early in the morning with worshippers making offerings of fruits, flowers and incense to the image of Lord Hanuman found in the temple. Hindu devotees thencircling around the Lord Hanuman statue several times and chanting hymns devoted to the deity. They also offer food, cloth and some kind of currency as a symbol of material wealth to the idol. The offerings are then taken by the priests and placed in front of the deity. Priests will then perform aarti, or ritualistic worship of the deity, involving the waving of a lamp and chanting prayers. After this, the devotees offer their prasad, or blessed food, to the deity.
