Worship Method:

Gurudwara Shri Triloknath Sahib is a popular Sikh Shrine in Kapurthala, Punjab. The temple is dedicated to the first Sikh Guru Nanak Ji and dates back to 1690. Worshipers at the shrine follow the traditional Sikh worship methods. The first step of the worship takes place within the premises of the shrine. Devotees are expected to bow before Guru Granth Sahib, or the Holy book, after removing their footwear. Following the bow, they must recite their prayers, or 'Ardas'. Inside the Gurudwara there are no idols or statues of any sort, as Sikhism does not hold such symbols to be sacred. Devotees must enter the premises and these days must wear masks and follow the social distancing norms. Once inside the Gurudwara Sahib, devotees must observe the 4 pillars of Sikh faith, known as 'Kirat Karni, Vand Chhakna, Naam Japana and Seva'. Kirat Karni means to lead an honest life. This entails worshipping the one God, following the teachings of the Sikh Gurus, and being truthful and moral in all aspects of life. Vand Chhakna involves sharing one's wealth with those less fortunate. Naam Japana means to recite the name of the God and Seva is a practice of doing service and helping those in need. The daily prayer at Gurudwara Shri Triloknath Sahib is conducted five times a day. This includes a morning prayer, midday prayer, evening prayer, late night prayer and a special prayer on Sundays. During the prayer, devotees recite 'Japji Sahib' and other kirtans. Prasad is offered to those in attendance as a blessing. At the end of the prayer, a communal meal is served. The main worship takes place on special occasions, like Gurpurb or the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji (November). On these days, devotees take part in processions, kirtans and prayers. The Gurudwara is decorated with flowers and the salutations to the Guru are recited with great respect. The ceremony ends with Prasad. This most visited temple in Punjab
