The base of worship in Gurudwara Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji follows the Sikh tradition and is known as "Gurmat Sangeet". Every morning starts with the recitation of Japji Sahib. This is followed by the singing of hymns and verses of Guru Granth Sahib ji and the recitation of prayers. The main ceremony of the day is held during the afternoon, when the Nagar Kirtan, or procession of singing and chanting, takes place. This is accompanied by instrumental accompaniment including the tabla, dhol and harmonium. The evening includes the main Sikh ceremony, commonly called the "Kirtan Seva", which consists of a two-way conversation between the congregation and the priests.
