The temple is said to have been constructed in the Dwapara Yuga (2nd age of 4) by Rukmi, brother-in-law of Sri Krishna. The worship method of Dwaraka Tirumala Venkateswara Swamy Temple is the traditional method adopted by the Hare Krishnas. The daily routine starts with the chanting of the maha mantras, according to the Vaishnava Sampradaya. Ganapati puja is done twice, both in the morning and evening. All special pujas include a sankalpam and arati, followed by offering of food and sweet items. Afterward, a special puja is performed for Lord Venkateswara and the day ends with a bhajan. The temple follows the Brahma muhurtam timings throughout the year and offers special pujas on weekends and festivals. On the day of the planetary stars, special puja is also offered. On Raksha Bandhan, a long procession of the temple Deity is carried out, with singing, dancing and decorating the idols of the main deities.
